Seventeenth-century French courtly songs and intermèdes
At the Sun King’s court, prominent musicians would gather to tell stories in song, some bucolic and contemplative, others more somber and dramatic. Mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre, accompanied by lutenist Thomas Dunford, recreates the intimate atmosphere of Grand Siècle soirées with Baroque works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Robert de Visée, Marin Marais, Michel Lambert and Honoré d’Amruys.
