Julia Weiss

Born in Mulhouse, she began dancing in several Alsatian schools, before joining the dance school of the Opéra national de Paris (1997-2003).

At the end of her training, she joined the Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris under the direction of Brigitte Lefèvre (2003-2004). She then joined the Ballet du Rhin under the direction of Bertrand d'At (2004-2009). where she is illustrated in particular in Sight of love and Romeo and Juliet (B. d'At); Le Marteau sans maître and Sonata à trois (M.Béjart); Por vos Muero (N. Duato); Work within work (W. Forsythe); Acceleration and La Stirpe conflict (J. Godani). She was then a soloist at the Staatstheater Mainz under the direction of Pascal Touzeau (2009-2011). She performed there various creations by P.Touzeau and J. Godani as well as Quintett by W. Forsythe. Her career continued with the Dresden Semperoper ballet under the direction of Aaron Watkin (2011-2016) where she was appointed soloist at the end of the first season. She dances great classics revisited by Aaron Watkin such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadère and The Nutcracker, while standing out in the neoclassical and contemporary repertoire, with the roles of Juliette by S. Celis (creation), Giselle by D. Dawson as well as Jewels and Apolo Musaget (G. Balanchine); The Vertiginous Thrill of exactitude, In the Middle, Enemy in the Figure, Neue Suite and Impressing the Czar (W.Forsythe); She was Black (M.Ek); Bella Figura (J. Kylian); Gray Area (D. Dawson); Minus 16 (O. Naharin), Walking Mad (J. Inger); Cacti (D. Ekman), Noces, Vertigo Maze, Cinderella and Joseph Legend (S. Celis); Tanzsuite* (A.Ratmansky).

She was subsequently hired as a soloist by Nacho Duato at the Staatsballett Berlin for one season (2016-2017) before joining France and the Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon under the direction of Yourgos Loukos (2017-2019); she dances the solo roles in Second Détail and Steptext (W.Forsythe),; Bella Figura and Wings of Wax (J. Kylian) as well as 31 rue Vandenbranden (Peeping Tom).

In August 2019 she was engaged by Bruno Bouché at the Ballet of the Opéra National du Rhin.
