Strasbourg, 2024 World Book Capital
Strasbourg, 2024 World Book Capital
23 April 2024 to 22 April 2025
A hub of ideas and research, home to Gutenberg and the Renaissance humanists, Strasbourg has a long and rich association with books. UNESCO has designated it the World Book Capital for 2024. From 23 April 2024 to 22 April 2025, more than two hundred book-related events of all kinds will take place across the city. The Opéra national du Rhin is contributing to this celebration with its program during this period. It begins with the Arsmondo Utopia Festival, a line-up of concerts, opera, film screenings, talks and debates. Dedicated to imaginary places, it takes its name from Thomas More’s famous book that helps us “read our world” and change it. Other events during the 2024-25 season will add to the diversity of this year’s celebration of books.
