Die schöne Müllerin is an intimate tragedy set by a river, the quintessence of Schubertian art. It is the story of a young worker at a watermill who falls in love with his master’s daughter. The story is told in twenty moving lieder by the most gifted baritone of his generation, Huw Montague Rendall, who played an outstanding Papageno at OnR in December 2022.
