Presentation
Will we be forced to surrender to superior intelligence after creating it artificially? Can robots outlive humans? Will we live more happily on other planets? How can we avoid environmental catastrophe? While science fiction novels tend to fixate on disastrous scenarios, Asimov prefers to respond to existential dread with his own brand of creativity and liberty, encouraging us to build a future world in which technology has its rightful place and we humans are fully in control of intelligence and what we do with it. As lots of questions are thrown up by the issues surrounding bioethics, mass robotics, artificial intelligence and worst-case climate scenarios, one of the original masters of futurology speaks out to steer us through these unprecedented times. As ever, Asimov is a steadfast beacon navigating us through our uncharted future.
