Presentation
Louise Farrenc was one of the main forces in French chamber music in the 19th century. Her Sextuor, one of her most performed works, won the admiration of critics who praised its instrumentation, fresh poetic ideas and ingenious developments. Alongside this monumental work is Albéric Magnard’s Quintet, Op. 8, which reveals the idealistic personality of its composer.
