Children’s day | Jazz manouche guitar workshop

Strasbourg’s Neuhof neighbourhood is considered the birthplace of jazz manouche. For decades, the district has produced a long line of brilliant musicians who have passed on with unbridled passion their love of Django Reinhardt’s jazz. Nowadays, true to the manouche tradition, the jazz style is passed on in Neuhof exclusively by word of mouth. However, guitarist Francko Mehrstein, a teacher at CSC Neuhof’s music school, is keen to take jazz manouche beyond the neighbourhood. With his open and inclusive approach, Francko is the perfect musician to introduce inquisitive young people to jazz manouche and teach them how to play their first chords.
