Jazz manouche
from Le Polygone to Place Broglie
Part of the Arsmondo Roma Festival.
Jazz manouche is the lyrical fusion of American jazz, Central European manouche music and traditional accents of chanson française. Created by musical luminaries Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli, the new genre that appealed to audiences all over was particularly appreciated in Alsace. Arsmondo 2022 is the ideal showcase for an event as unique as it is symbolic—presenting jazz manouche with two complementary concerts at the OnR!

This magical evening of music is a tribute to Django and all jazz manouche fans. The musicians will take joy in performing a selection of pieces from the repertoire specially arranged for the occasion to show the richly contrasting shades of this very particular style of jazz. Expect a recital at times intimate, vigorous, delicate and nuanced, as determined by the size of the ensemble playing each piece—from a cosy trio to a full orchestra formation. Performed by internationally lauded musicians selected and endorsed by the greatest names in the genre, this concert showcases musicians the pride and joy of Strasbourg’s music scene.
