Presentation
In 1967, the Comédie Française produced Georges Schehadé's seventh play, L'Émigré de Brisbane, with Jacques Mauclair as its director. We wanted somehow to honor the bond between Schehadé and the Comédie Française, through poetry this time. So, we invited Guillaume Gallienne - a member of this revered French theater institution as well as a playwright and director (and a wonderful reader as anyone will agree who listened to his weekly show that ran for many years on France Inter, Ça ne peut pas faire de mal) - to take you on a journey to discover the man who we like to call "the poet of two riverbanks", spanning Beirut and Paris.
Gallienne will read poems picked from a selection of Georges Schehadé's anthologies.
