Presentation
For this second evening of Spectres of Europe, Bruno Bouché presents a large-scale production entitled Encore for his dancers of the OnR Ballet. The piece explores the beauty in the word "encore" (again), which defines our life and times, whether it be the body that asks for more pleasure, human history, which despite our ability to remember seems to repeat the worst, or children, who can revel in simple repetition.
Enemy in the Figure is a new piece by William Forsythe just added to the repertoire of the OnR Ballet -- an intense and captivating, dark and chaotic choreography for 11 dancers, created in 1989 for the Frankfurt Ballet. As critic Roslyn Sulcas has pointed out: "In a universe alternately frenetic and calm, Enemy in the Figure presents a non-narrative of mystery and urgency, isolation and connection, the mechanical and the human: dance as a medium for infinite possibilities."
