Pina Bausch and the tango

Eminent German choreographer Pina Bausch (1940-2009) revolutionized contemporary dance with her theatrical approach to body movement, earning her work the moniker of “Tanztheater.” Bausch was always interested in dances “from elsewhere.” With “Bandoneon” (1980), she created a show inspired by her love for tango, which became legendary and was reperformed many times.
