Biography
Marwik Schmitt was born in Frankfurt-am-Main in 1992. He trained in dance at the National Conservatory of Dance in Lyon and deepened his apprenticeship with private teachers such as Pascale Michelet, Martin Schmitt, Alain Astié. It is at the conservatory that he presented his first choreography: Would You, pas de deux which calls out to his taste for creation. His entry into the Ballet of the Opéra National du Rhin will give him the opportunity to create a solo presented at the evening of young choreographers. It will be a springboard to choreograph a piece: Specter en 2017, for the Grands Ballets Canadiens, presented at the Saint-Sauveur arts festival. An order followed in the programming of the Grands Ballets in 2019: Specter, Story of Lonely Souls. He collaborated with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra to create a pas de deux on the music of Maurice Ohana. Two pieces are added to his creations, for the Ballet of the Opéra National du Rhin: Gran Partita and De chair et d'Os in 2019. In 2020, Bruno Bouché commissioned him to create a piece in the "Danser Mozart" program. titled: Gangflow.
