Leonardo Capalbo

Italian-American artist, he studied at the Juilliard School of Music, The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara and at the Music Academy of Villecroze. He followed the advice of Marilyn Horne. He made his debut in 2004 in La vida Breve at Opera North, then sang Ismaele (Nabucco), Roméo (Romeo and Juliet), Narraboth (Salomé). He leads an international career on the great lyrical stages in Europe and the United States. He sang the title role of Candide by Bernstein with the London Symphony Orchestra in London and Messa di Gloria by Puccini in San Diego, the title role of Tales of Hoffmann with Marc Minkowski and the Musicians of the Louvre in Bremen, Cavaradossi ( Tosca) and Ruggero (La Rondine) at the Minnesota Opera, Don Carlo at Grange Park Opera, the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto) in Stockholm and Calgary. We could see him at the Baden-Baden festival in Rodolfo (La Bohème) and in Britten's Gloriana directed by Sir David McVicar in Madrid. Other engagements lead him to Teatr Wielki for Carmen, in Lyon for Macbeth, in St Gallen for La Bohème, in Hanover for L'Elixir d'amore. He also plays Gustavo (A masked ball) in Stockholm, Jacopo (I due Foscari) at the Saint Gall festival and Don José in Palm Beach, Seville, Grange Festival and Athens. In 2019/20, he made his debut at Opera Vlaanderen in the title role of Don Carlo, at the Komische Oper as Duc (Rigoletto), and at the New National Theater Tokyo in Tales of Hoffmann. At the OnR he sang Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in 2007.
