Dragos Ionel

Born in Iași, Romania, he graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology from the University of Aberdeen. He forged a repertoire during his studies at RWCMD Cardiff where he performed the roles of Leporello (Don Giovanni), Antonio (Le nozze di Figaro), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Alidoro (La Cenerentola), Lapak (La Petite Renarde rusée), Betto di Signa (Gianni Schicchi), Harry Easter and Frank Maurrant (Street Scene), Der Lautsprecher (Kaiser von Atlantis by Ulmann). At Aberdeen University, he sang Zaretsky and Onegin. He was also Hans Scholl (Kommilitonen by Peter Maxwell Davies) at the Welsh Youth National Opera before being Zuniga (Carmen) at the Iași National Opera. He joined the Opéra Studio of the OnR in September 2020 and will sing the role of Don Magnifico (La Cenerentolina).
