Claudia De Smet

She began her training in gymnastics then trained in classical and contemporary dance at the Provincial Dance Institute in Antwerp in Belgium. She also obtained her diploma in dance education. She multiplied her professional experiences as a dancer in various companies in Europe before joining the Ballet Preljocaj in 1995. She then performed the main roles of most of Angelin Preljocaj's creations and pieces from her repertoire, and in particular the Angel in Annunciation who received a Bessie Award in New York in 1997. From 2005, she continued her career as artistic assistant to the choreographer, also in charge of the artistic development of the dancers of the company. Since 2011, she has been working as a freelance artistic assistant, and brings Angelin Preljocaj's works back to the world.
