Biography
American bass-baritone Ashley David Prewett studied at Texas Tech University and the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv.
An ensemble member of Oper Stuttgart between 2014 and 2018, his roles for this house have included Schaklovity in Chowanschtschina, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, Schaunard in La Bohème, Angelotti in Tosca, Marullo in Rigoletto, Gran Sacerdote in Nabucco, Barone Douphol in La Traviata, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, Ottokar in Der Freischütz, Melot in Tristan und Isolde, Morales in Carmen, Patrocle in Iphigénie en Aulide and The Traveller/ Elderly Fop/ Old Gondolier/ Hotel Manager/ Hotel Barber/ Leader of the Players/ Voice of Dionysus in Death in Venice.
Elsewhere, he has sung the European premiere of Mohammed Fairouz' oratorio Zabur with the Bochumer Symphoniker and given house debuts as Ostario in Zandonai's Francesca da Rimini at Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg and Teatro alla Scala in Milan in new productions by Nicola Raab and David Pountney respectively.
Highlights in the season 2018/19 will be his role and house debuts as Pietro in Simon Boccanegra at the Opéra National Montpellier and as Gellner in La Wally for Fondazione Haydn di Bolzano e Trento.
